St. Norbert

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.  He began to teach them, saying:  "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5: 1-3).

Being poor in spirit means being detached from your things. Maybe you are blessed to have a lot of belongings – ipods, laptop, videogames, etc. But how attached are you to those things? If you can’t “live without them” then you are not poor in spirit. Put God first and let Him take care of the rest.

Lord Jesus, thank you for all of the many gifts and blessings you have showered me with. Help me to constantly keep you first in my life.
