The Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Jesus said to his disciples, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him (John 3: 16-17).

This is the Gospel from the signs you see at football games, “John 3:16.” It is a short but powerful passage. God loves us so much that He came and lived with us. What more could we ask of God? Is there a better gift? 

Heavenly Father, help me to appreciate the gift of Jesus living here on earth with us. Help me to appreciate the Eucharist.
