Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Jesus said to his disciples, "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' but not do what I command? I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them. That one is like a person building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built. But the one who listens and does not act is like a person who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, it collapsed at once and was completely destroyed" (Luke 6: 46-49).

The important thing here is doing what Jesus tells us to do. Not just agreeing with Him and thinking it is nice. If we follow through and really do what He tells us we are building our lives and getting stronger and stronger, just like your body gets stronger when you do push ups consistently. You don’t get stronger thinking about pushups.

Christ Jesus, You have the Words of everlasting life and I want to do what You ask of me.

Impact Life: Am I truly respectful or do I just pay lip service when saying, “Yes, Sir …”?
