St. Elizabeth of Portugal

A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind Jesus and touched the tassel on his cloak. She said to herself, "If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured." Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, "Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you." And from that hour the woman was cured (Matthew 9: 20-22).

This woman showed perseverance. She had been hoping for a cure for 12 years … It is easy to give up when we don’t see our prayers being answered right away but giving up is for the weak of heart and nobody wants to be weak. The strong persevere!

Holy Spirit, remind me of this woman’s example when I want to give up on prayer.
