March 20 - St. Herbert
When it was evening, he reclined at table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, "Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me." Deeply distressed at this, they began to say to him one after another, "Surely it is not I, Lord?" He said in reply, "He who has dipped his hand into the dish with me is the one who will betray me” (Matthew 26: 20-23).
Have you ever betrayed the Lord? Whenever we sin we turn our backs on Him in betrayal. It is easy to think that Judas was an awful person while we forget how many times we prefer ourselves over Jesus.
Lord Jesus, I am truly sorry for abandoning you in my life so often. I never want to do that again.
